Multiple fire departments knock down a fully engulfed barn fire in Xenia

XENIA — UPDATE @ 7:03 a.m.:

Multiple fire departments put out a fully engulfed barn fire on Brushrow Road in Xenia early Saturday morning. Mutual aid from Xenia City, Cedarville Twp., New Jasper Twp., and Xenia Twp. arrived to contain the blaze.

Fire Chief Greg Beagle of Xenia Township said crews arrived at the scene after a passerby called 911, the homeowners were not aware that their barn was on fire at the time.

The fire was extensive due to the size of the barn which was originally built-in 1888. " The was an extensive amount of hay, equipment, and tractors that contributed to the damage to the barn,” he said.

The barn is a total loss.

There were small livestock on the property at the time but were unharmed by the fire.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire crews are responding to a fully involved barn fire at the 500 block of Brush Row Road in Xenia.

According to scanners, the call for emergency aid came in at 3:30 a.m.
