Amy Scarpelli prison sentence to be served in West Virginia

UPDATE @ 2:05 p.m (June 16)

Amy Scarpelli will serve her sentence of five and a half years for embezzling $5.2 million from U.S. Bank at Alderson Correctional in West Virginia.

U.S. District Court Judge Walter Rice sustained a motion from Scarpelli’s attorneys to allow Scarpelli to serve her time at a facility relatively closer to her family in New York. Alderson is closer than a prison in Lexington, Ky.

“In addition, Alderson offers program which would be beneficial in assisting this defendant to become rehabilitated and assist her with both her alcohol addiction as well as her gambling addiction,” the motion stated.

Scarpelli, who was sentenced May 17, has not yet voluntarily surrendered for incarceration, according to Federal Bureau of Prisons records.
