The suspect in the June shooting death in Dayton of 57-year-old William Sarver is in custody, the U.S. Marshal’s Office announced today.
Deonte Snowden, 34, was arrested Friday afternoon in Mesa, Ariz., by the U.S. Marshal’s Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team and local authorities, according to the release.
A warrant was issued for Snowden's arrest after he was indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault.
The charges stem from the night of June 6, when William Sarver was found suffering gunshot wounds in the 1700 block of Riverview Avenue in Dayton, according to authorities.
Snowden’s arrest comes after Dayton investigators learned that the suspect was at a residence in Mesa, Ariz. That information was relayed to SOFAST, which in turn contacted the Marshal’s Office in Arizona, according to the release.
The suspect is to be held in Arizona pending extradition to Ohio.
