Oakwood police pursuit suspect remains in jail on bond

UPDATE @ 11:30 p.m. (Jan. 4): David Montgomery Jr., 38, of Riverside, pleaded not guilty to charges in Montgomery County court on Thursday for his accused role in a pursuit that started in Oakwood last month.

Montgomery’s bond was set at $7,500. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 10.

Montgomery was still listed on the jail roster about 11:30 p.m.

INITIAL REPORT (Dec. 22):

A man arrested after a police chase that ended in a crash in Riverside last week was indicted today by a Montgomery County grand jury.

David Ellis Montgomery Jr., 38, of Riverside is charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a felony; and two misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and obstructing official business.

Montgomery did not stop for an Oakwood officer who tried to pull him over for a stolen plate on his vehicle, police said. The officer pursued him into Dayton until the chase ended with a crash in the 3100 block of Plawfield Road in Riverside.

Montgomery had a warrant for his arrest for an unrelated crime at the time of the incident, police said.

Montgomery has been held since his Dec. 22 arrest in the Montgomery County Jail. He is due Jan. 4 for arraignment in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
