Trotwood shooting victim dies from injuries, ID released

TROTWOOD — UPDATE @ 1:32 p.m. (Jan. 31):A man shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Autumn Woods Drive in Trotwood has died from his injuries, according to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

Alexander Rhoads, 19, of Trotwood, was pronounced dead at Kettering Medical Center on Monday around 3:20 p.m, the coroner’s office said.

Rhoads’ autopsy has not been performed yet, a spokesperson said.

UPDATE @ 2 a.m. (Jan. 28): In an 8-minute 911 call, one woman comforts a man who was losing a massive amount of blood after he was shot Saturday afternoon in Trotwood.

“They shot him in the head,” the woman says while talking to the man in efforts to keep him awake.

She tells dispatchers that the man was breathing, but barely conscious after he was shot in a parking lot in the 5500 block of a Autumn Woods Drive apartment complex.

The suspects reportedly drove away in a silver vehicle after shooting the victim, according to the woman in the 911 call.

The victim initially was taken to Grandview Medical Center i. There is no word on his condition currently.

Police have not said what led to the shooting nor provided any suspect descriptions, but continue to investigate.

A gunshot victim was taken to Grandview Medical Center this afternoon from a Trotwood apartment complex.

The shooting happened in a parking lot at 5521 Autumn Woods Drive at the Westbrooke Village apartments.

The victim’s name, age and condition have not been released, and police have not said what led to the shooting or provided any suspect descriptions.

One person has been shot this afternoon in Trotwood.

Police were called shortly after 12:30 p.m. to the 5500 block of Autumn Woods Drive on a report of a shooting.
