Suspect from SWAT standoff taken into custody ID’d

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 4:18 p.m.:

Cory Stevenson was arrested by Dayton police in the 1500 block of Bancroft Street following a standoff this morning, according to jail records.

Stevenson is charged with aggravated burglary, kidnapping and two weapons charges, records show.

The suspect is in custody.

UPDATE @5:30 a.m.

SWAT has arrived on scene of a standoff at a Dayton apartment building.

Officers were calling for the suspect to come out with his hands up.

FIRST REPORT

Police are working to get a wanted subject out of a Dayton apartment.

Shortly before 4 a.m., police said a wanted suspect ran into an apartment in the 1500 block of Bancroft Street and closed the doors. Police said the man is wanted for kicking in a door, but details of that incident have not been released.

Neighboring apartments are being evacuated and police have set up a perimeter.

The suspect is likely armed with a 9 mm pistol, according to initial reports.
