Police interrupt suspected drug deal, arrest 2 in Dayton

DAYTON — Two men are jailed on drug charges after police Saturday night interrupted a suspected drug deal.

Dayton officers were on routine patrol around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Danner Avenue and Bancroft Street when they spotted a man leaning into a large gray Chevrolet Silverado.

As soon as the police cruiser came into view, the man ran to the Bancroft Apartments, and the vehicle started to leave, according to a Dayton police report.

Police in the 1400 block of West Stewart Street pulled over the vehicle, which was registered to a Lebanon man, the report stated.

Four men were inside, including the driver — identified as Kyle Fox, who was visibly shaking as he handed police his identification — and front seat passenger Adam Fox, according to the report.

A suspected heroin capsule was in plain view on the passenger side floorboard where Adam Fox had been sitting, the report stated, which prompted officers to search the Chevy.

They reported finding a purple and gold Crown Royal velvet bag containing a blue elastic band commonly used as a tie-off for intravenous drug use; a used paper towel stained with blood; and a clear glass medicine bottle filled with a clear liquid. Also on the floorboards were several empty gel capsules with residue and an orange plunger cap for a medical syringe, the police report stated.

Kyle Fox, 31, denied there was a drug transaction, and said told police he was in Dayton to pick up a friend, though he did not know who and said he did not know the man police had seen leaning into his vehicle earlier. He was charged with loitering to solicit illegal drugs, the report stated.

Adam Fox, 32, refused to speak to police without a lawyer. He was charged with felony possession of drugs.
