FULL REPORT

Jason Robb was shot multiple times by his ex-wife, Mercedes, according to Lt. John Faine, with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened in the yard of 3112 Oregonia Road, where deputies found Jason deceased upon their arrival this morning, Faine said.

Mercedes was the one who called 911 after the shooting. She was initially booked on a preliminary charge of murder, Faine said.

This afternoon, the court entered a not guilty plea to the preliminary charge of murder against Mercedes, according to Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell's Facebook page. The court set a $500,000 bond and has scheduled a preliminary hearing for Nov. 10 to determine if the case should be bound over to the grand jury, the post says.

Jason was there to pick up their two children at the house — a routine exchange prior to the school day, Faine said.

In the 911 call, Faine said Mercedes says she shot her ex-husband, he’s not breathing, she was not going to attempt CPR and she would comply with deputies when they arrived. The two children were inside the home when the shooting happened and did not witness it, Faine said.

Mercedes did not have wounds on her to indicate it was self-defense, Faine said. Jason did not have a weapon on him, and his vehicle was still running in the driveway, Faine said.

According to records, the property on Oregonia Road is owned by Mercedes, who was booked into Warren County Jail just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The Robbs were divorced in 2013, according to Warren County court records, but were currently in a custody battle. A hearing was scheduled for Nov. 29.

Deputies and medics were requested to the house around 6:30 a.m. on a reported shooting.

CareFlight was originally placed on standby while the situation was investigated, but their response was canceled. The incident remains under investigation.

This is the third fatal incident of domestic violence since July in Warren County.

In September, David Garrett, 39, shot and killed his ex-wife, Traci Fletcher-Garrett, 41, in the yard of her home at the end of a long driveway in Hamilton Twp. next to Little Miami High School, then fatally shot himself, according to police. There were children in the house at the time.

In July, Eric Walker shot dead his wife Lauren Walker and himself and wounded her brother in their driveway in Clearcreek Twp., just outside Springboro city limits. Eric Walker had just learned she planned to leave him and take their children, according to authorities.

The victims were profiled in a recent domestic violence awareness exhibit in Warren County.
