VIDEO: Body camera footage released after 2 adults found passed out with child in car

VANDALIA — UPDATE @ 12:16 p.m. (Jan. 15):

Body camera video from Vandalia police shows two adults being pulled from a vehicle after they were reportedly found passed out with an 18-month-old boy in the back seat.

Police blurred the body camera video while charges against the two adults are pending.

INITIAL REPORT:

Vandalia police are investigating after two adults were found passed out in a car with a child inside.

This happened around 8 p.m. Monday after a man attempting to access a drive-through at a restaurant  couldn’t get his vehicle through because another vehicle was parked sideways on Foley Drive, off National Road.

'Misunderstanding' causes brief lock down at Dayton VA, spokesman says

The man told police he walked to the car to see what was happening, and he spotted a man and woman slumped over in the front seats and a child in a car seat in the back. He called 911.

A Vandalia police report indicates the woman was found incoherent and not aware of where she was. The male driver was passed out and they had to forcibly wake him up.

The 18-month-old boy in the back seat was taken into the care of Children Services.

Coroner's office requested after body found in water at Clifton Gorge

The two adults were treated at a hospital and the male driver will face criminal charges for suspected drugs found in his pocket.
