Summer is starting early at the Greene! Beginning in May and running through September, the Greene is packed with amazing events, fun activities, and of course, live music.

Here are a few highlights:

1. Kickoff weekend | Thursday, May 11-Sunday, May 14: Celebrate the official opening of the Dayton Children's Plum Street Park Playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 11. On Saturday, May 13, at 12:30 p.m., you can relax and find your center with Yoga on the Square. Sunday, May 14, is Mother's Day, so make your reservation now to take her to one of the more than 20 restaurants located at The Greene.

2. Summer Music Series | Friday, May 12, 6 p.m.: Shakedown, one of Dayton's premier dance bands, will open The Greene's annual Summer Music Series on Friday, May 12. This fun concert series features live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, every weekend through the end of September. Click here for the complete schedule.

3. Memorial Day Weekend Sales | Friday, May 26-Monday, May 29: Get your "shop" on and freshen up your summer wardrobe with four straight days of fantastic Memorial Day weekend sales from May 26-29. You can enjoy live music on the square both Friday and Saturday evenings.

4. Family Movie Night | Friday, June 9, dusk: Gather the family in Plum Street Park just as the sun is setting (approximately 9:30 p.m.) on Friday, June 9, for a screening of "The Secret Life of Pets," sponsored by Dayton Children's Hospital. This showing is the first of three movie nights – Friday,July 7 features "Moana," and "Lego: Batman" will be shown on Friday, Aug. 4.

5. Chalk About It! Festival | Saturday, June 10, 10 a.m.: The streets of The Greene will come alive as artists create living art using only pastel chalk during the third annual Chalk About It! Festival on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. This artistic event is designed to bring awareness to the mental health needs of senior citizens in our community. The Kids Festival, which includes a petting zoo, inflatables, obstacle course, face painting and kids' chalking, will run from 12-4 p.m.

6. Block Party | Saturday, June 10, 12-10 p.m.: The first of eight block parties at The Greene this summer will be held on Saturday, June 10, starting at 12 p.m. Others will be held on June 24, July 22, July 29, Aug. 4, Aug. 5, Aug. 10 and Sept. 16. Come out each date for family fun, beer sales, live music and more. The proceeds from beer sales at each block party will be donated to various Miami Valley charities.

7. Hunks & Ladders Firefighter Combat Challenge | Saturday, July 22, 2 p.m.: The Hunks & Ladders Firefighter Combat Challenge starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 22. Come out and cheer on local firefighters as they compete and raise money for three Dayton-based charities. A block party also kicks off at 2 p.m., and live music with Stranger begins at 6 p.m.

8. Tax-Free Weekend | Friday, Aug. 4-Sunday, Aug. 6: Just in time for back-to-school shopping, take advantage of the Ohio "Sales Tax Holiday" to stock up on everything your kids need to start another school year. Be sure to look for special sales all weekend long at The Greene's more than 75 stores during this Tax-Free Weekend.

9. Taste of The Greene | Thursday, Aug. 10, 5:30 p.m.: From 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Aug 10, treat your taste buds to the 11th annual Taste of The Greene and Block Party, benefiting the Miami Valley Restaurant Association. Live music will be played by Mark Cantwil and The PDH.

10. Air Force Marathon After-Party | Bargains, Bites, Beers & Bands Festival | Saturday, Sept. 16, 3 p.m.: Join all the USAF Marathon celebrants for the marathon after-party and the Bargains, Bites, Beers & Bands Festival, brought to you by Yuengling and the Miami Valley Restaurant Association. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement about a national recording artist headline performer -- more details coming soon!
