Officials say the fire was manageable when they were dispatched on S. Garfield Avenue and E. Third Street around 3:45 a.m., but the strong winds caused it to get out of hand, eventually burning through the roof.
The wind-driven fire caused crews to be pulled from inside the residence to prevent injury, in which they had to simply wait for the fire to burn out rather than fight it.
