DARKE COUNTY — A 62-year-old woman was flown to an area hospital this evening after she lost control and crashed into a creek bed at the bottom of an embankment.

Crews were called around 5:45 p.m. to the 3300 block of Hollansville Tampico Road in Darke County to a report of a single-car crash. The driver, identified as Dorothy Blanken of Glen Karn, lost control of her black 2015 Ford Mustang while she was traveling south, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. Blanken veered off the left side of the roadway, went down a small embankment, struck a bridge guardrail and tumbled down into the creek bed, the sheriff’s office told our media partner BlueBag Media.

Liberty Twp. Fire and Tri-Village Rescue also responded, and had to free the driver from the wreckage. CareFlight took the crash victim to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where her condition was not known, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies told BlueBag Media that alcohol is not believed to be a factor but that the cause of the crash is under investigation.
