Springfield police identify double shooting victims

The victims in the shooting have been identified as a 17-year-old female and a 20-year-old male, both of Springfield.

Officers were dispatched to a home in the 1100 block of South Western Avenue, where they found both victim. The teen had been shot in the right side of her abdomen and the male suffered a gunshot wound to his buttocks and was grazed with a bullet in the back of his neck.

Both were transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center and subsequently to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Condition updates were not available Monday evening.

Police asked for help from the public in solving two shootings Friday night that ended with three people wounded in incidents about an hour and two miles apart.

“It’s rare,” Springfield police Chief Lee Graf said.

A man and woman apparently were shot inside the home in the 1100 block of South Western Avenue, where police were called about 10:40 p.m.

Investigators found shell casings in the street.

The chief urged neighbors and anyone else with information to contact police.

None of the victims was identified and Clark County Coroner Richard Marsh said his office had not been contacted in either shooting.

Police are investigating a shooting in the 1100 block of South Western Avenue in Springfield, where two victims may have been wounded.

Police and medic units were dispatched to a house on South Western Avenue about 10:40 p.m.

One person wounded by gunfire has been confirmed, Springfield police Lt. Jeff Williams said, but there is no information about the second victim or the circumstances of the shooting.

There has been no arrest, he said.
