Styrofoam recycling event held in Dayton today

DAYTON — Today the Montgomery County Environmental Services collaborated with the City of Dayton and Eco Development to organize a regional Styrofoam recycling event.

This came after the success of the collection event that was held by the City of Centerville last January.

The event was held at the Welcome Stadium parking lot on South Edwin C. Moses Boulevard from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on May 15.

Anyone could bring their unwanted Styrofoam to the lot and volunteers unloaded it for them.

Those dropping off did not need to leave their vehicle.

The program asked people to not bring used food containers.

“Eco Development will transport the collection to its facility in Mason, where the material will be processed and recycled into products like surfboards, picture frames and polystyrene,” according to a press release provided by the Montgomery County Environmental Services.
