He is accused of driving off from Arcanum police officers who woke him as he sat in a Pontiac Grand Am that was suspected to have been stolen. They located the vehicle on Ivester Lane about 11:30 a.m., Police Chief Andrew Ashbaugh told our news partner, The Early Bird.

The suspect, trying to evade capture, drove off the road several times before crashing in a field off state Route 726 and Ritenour Road near New Madison.

The officers arrested Deal there.

Chief Ashbaugh said police have since learned that Deal is wanted in Miami County on several warrants.
