West Liberty victim attends court hearing for accused school shooter

The West-Liberty Salem shooting victim and his family are in court Friday morning to attend a scheduled competency hearing of his alleged assailant.

Logan Cole, who is recovering from two gunshot wounds to his chest and side that he suffered at West Liberty-Salem High School on Jan. 20, sat outside the courtroom in a brace.

The family said Logan Cole, 17, is supposed to get the brace off on April 20.

Ely Serna, the 17-year-old student who's been charged in connection with the school shooting, hadn't entered the courtroom by 10:15 a.m. The hearing was scheduled for 10 a.m.
