2 DPS staffers on leave after student hurt

Two Dayton Public Schools employees have been placed on paid leave after the school district received a complaint that a 7-year-old student was injured by school staff last week.

The incident occurred Wednesday at Belle Haven Elementary School, 4401 Free Pike.

DPS spokeswoman Jill Moberley could not immediately confirm Monday whether the staffers in question were teachers, aides or some other level of employee. She said the district’s safety and security office was investigating.

“We don’t comment on ongoing investigations,” Moberley said. “We follow due process in investigating any allegations, and that’s what we’re doing now.”

Dayton Public Schools were closed Monday, and have not been open since Wednesday due to bad weather.
