Eaton man killed in I-70 motorcycle crash

UPDATE @ 9:28 a.m.

The fatal victim in this crash has been identified as as 48-year-old Paul Arahood Jr., of Eaton, according to OSHP Dayton Post.

UPDATE @ 9 a.m.

The Ohio Highway Patrol says they are unsure when a crash occurred that killed a man on I-70 in Preble County.

Crews were dispatched to eastbound I-70 near the exit to U.S. 35 around 5 a.m. Saturday on a reported motorcycle crash.

Troopers say sometime overnight a motorcycle was involved in a single-vehicle crash when it went off the roadway, down an embankment, and ejected the operator according to Sgt. Jeff Kramer with the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Kramer says the operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The operator has been identified as a man in his 40s, but troopers believe the crash may have gone unnoticed for hours.

Responding units noticed the motorcycle was cool to the touch, indicating it had not run in a while. Kramer adds it would have been difficult for other drivers to see the crash because of poor lighting in the area.

The cause of the crash is unknown, but troopers do not suspect alcohol or drugs, but could later become factors after an autopsy.

Troopers are in the process of notifying family, and the crash remains under investigation.
