OSP IDs woman who died after river rescue

UPDATE @ 6:37 p.m.: The woman who died after she was rescued from her car that went into the Little Miami River is identified as 72-year-old Joyce Cain of Morrow, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol's Lebanon Post.

She was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where she succumbed to her injuries.

According to the patrol’s preliminary investigation, Cain entered the river from a parking area along the side of Cold Springs Road in Turtlecreek Twp.

Around 10 a.m., the Lebanon Post received a report that Cain’s white sedan was in the middle of the river, south of Wilmington Road.

Troopers who responded couldn’t enter the river due to the rapid current. The Warren County Technicial Water Rescue Team was able to free the driver.

Cain’s car remains in the river. The car will be recovered when river conditions improve, according to the patrol.

UPDATE @ 4:16 p.m.: A woman rescued from a vehicle that went into the Little Miami River has died, the Ohio Highway Patrol has confirmed. Her name and age have not been released as of yet.

UPDATE @ 12:10 p.m.: CareFlight responded to the scene after crews rescued one person from a vehicle in the water, according to WCPO and the Warren County emergency dispatch center.

Crews in Turtlecreek Twp. are responding to a vehicle that ended up in the Little Miami River.

The water rescue was getting underway around 10 a.m. in the area of Mathers Mill, near Oregonia and the Jeremiah Morrow Bridge.
