Motorcycle driver seriously hurt in crash

UPDATE @ 11:09 p.m.: A male driving a motorcycle, with a female passenger, has suffered serious injuries in the crash in the 6800 block of Rip Rap Road.

He has been taken to a hospital and members of the Dayton Police Department Traffic Services Unit are on scene, waiting to hear from a hospital about the male’s condition. He was not wearing a helmet.

The woman riding with him also wasn’t wearing a helmet. Her injuries were not life-threatening, police tell us.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the male failed to negotiate a curve or corner at Rip Rap and Little York roads and crashed. The bike may have hit a ditch before coming to rest on a small road off Rip Rap.

Both Rip Rap and Little York remain open to traffic.

FIRST REPORT

A motorcycle accident on Rip Rap Road has sent at least one person to a hospital.

Police and a medic unit were dispatched to the 6800 block of Rip Rap about 10:20 p.m. for an injury accident.

We have a crew on scene and we’re working to confirm information from a Huber Heights woman who tells us she tried to assist the man who was on the bike with a woman.

The Huber Heights woman tells us she saw blood on the man and that the woman on the bike was not injured.
