Bomb threat reported at Vandalia-Butler school

Another school in the Vandalia-Butler School District was the victim of false bomb threat Tuesday.

In a meeting with parents, Vandalia-Butler Superintendent Bradley Neavin mentioned bomb detecting dogs were called to Smith Middle School Tuesday after a threat was found written on a wall.

Nothing harmful was found during the sweep. Neavin believes this was a case of younger students looking up to the actions of older students.

This was the fourth bomb threat at an area school in the last two weeks. Two have been reported in the Vandalia-Butler district, one at Alter High School, and another at Valley View High School.
