Deputy: Man in pursuit hid in gas station bathroom

A 21-year-old man who stole two cars and fled from deputies early Friday was found hiding in gas station bathroom.

Kali Arthur Cryor, of Landover, Maryland, was tracked using a stolen cellphone to a gas station in Delaware County, Indiana, according to officials.

Cryor allegedly was driving a black 2000 Ford truck around 4:30 a.m. that crashed after a pursuit by Hagerstown police in Wayne County, Ind.

An hour later, the stolen truck was found at the Redkey Pak A Sak, where he allegedly stole a woman’s cellular phone after asking to borrow it. A short time later, a Dodge Durango was reported stolen from Redkey.

Randolph County, Ind., Detective Tom Pullins used the stolen cellphone’s number to begin tracking it, and relayed the suspect’s location in the area of Route 332 and Interstate 69 to deputies in Delaware County, according to a release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

Indiana State Trooper Eric Perkins noticed a suspicious man near the Durango at Ricker’s gas station. Cryor hid in the bathroom until officers ordered him out, according to the release.

Cryor told investigators a couple days ago he got into an argument with his girlfriend in Maryland and took her truck, and he admitted he was involved in the pursuit with Hagerstown officers, that he stole two vehicles and a cellphone, according to the release.

Cryor was booked into the Jay County Jail on suspicion of auto theft and theft.

Randolph County plans to pursue charges of auto theft, and Wayne County plans to pursue charges of resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, the release stated.
