Victim shot in buttocks before crash into Dayton house

UPDATE @ 10:03 a.m.

The man who was shot claimed he was a passenger in the vehicle that was shot at from a maroon GMC Denali in the area of West Second Street and North Gettysburg Avenue, according to the Dayton police report.

An officer responding to the scene was waved down by the victim as he was walking along North Decker. His clothes were bloody as he had been shot in the buttocks. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital where he was treated for a through-and-through gunshot wound, according to the report.

The driver took off running after losing control of the Impala and driving up into the yard on North Decker Avenue.

The gunshot victim told police they were at North Gettysburg and West Second when the Denali pulled up beside them and opened fire.

The victim reported they turned onto West Second in an effort to get away and the driver lost control a short time later, according to the report.

The victim told police they were at a club earlier in the evening and he thinks their vehicle was targeted because he was with a friend who had an argument the previous weekend over a “weed phone,” according to the report.

The friend who may have been targeted reportedly got into a different vehicle than the Impala shortly after the group left the club, police noted in the report.
