Dayton cops find 30 to 50 shell casings in street

UPDATE @ 10:29 p.m.: Police found 30 to 50 shell casings following a shots fired call on Bragg Street.

Sgt. John Riegel said no one was hit, but police are looking for suspects.

Multiple weapons were used, he said, including two to three rifles and at least one handgun. At least one slug was found at a house nearly two blocks away on Clement Avenue. The slug traveled in a westerly direction, across Gillespie Park, before hitting that residence, the sergeant said.

He said one person was arrested and will be charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

The individual was not directly involved in the shooting, but was going to a relative’s house to defend the relative and they were caught in possession of a concealed weapon, Riegel said.

He said witnesses told police they believe the incident was caused by a group of men fighting over a woman.
