Crews were dispatched to the 500 block of St. Paul Avenue in Dayton after 2:30 a.m. Monday after an automatic alarm was set off indicating a possible structure fire.

The first responding crew found heavy smoke coming from an apartment on the second floor, and later found the sole resident on the floor of the unit according to Dayton Fire District Chief Scott Rowlett.

The fire was extinguished quickly but crews evacuated all three floors of the building. No residents will be displaced, as damage was limited to just the one apartment.
