A teacher at Preble Shawnee Local Schools was arrested last month on a theft offense.

Molly A. Shockey, 45, is facing a charge of theft from Eaton police.

A police incident report from Nov. 26 at Walmart on East Washington Jackson Road, indicates Shockey allegedly attempted to steal several items while checking out in a self-checkout lane.

The Preble Shawnee Local Schools confirmed Shockey's employment.

The teacher reportedly would scan one item and put two items in the bag, according to the police report. An employee of Walmart watched Shockey while she did this, and stopped her as she passed through the grocery doors.

The police report indicates there were 25 stolen items recovered, valued at $162.

"Molly advised she meant to pay for the items and forgot," reads the police report. "Molly goes on to state that she does not have a criminal background and has never done anything like this before nor will she ever do anything like this again."
