Reporter
Jason joined Channel 9 Eyewitness News in 2006. For seven years, Jason reported on Charlotte-Mecklenburg government issues before being promoted to the Action 9 consumer investigator role in 2013. Jason is only the third Action 9 investigator since the team started in 1970.
He's won multiple regional awards for his investigative reporting, and helped consumers recover hundreds of thousands of dollars, avoid scams, and protect their families and their wallets.
Leading Action 9, Jason was the first to report on stories that grew beyond the Carolinas. His reports first exposed Juuls being used in classrooms, the price gouging on EpiPens, fires starting in Hyundai and Kia vehicles, and certain Chevrolet model vehicles experiencing what's now called the "Chevy Shake." In 2019, Jason's reporting got the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to remove the word "Negro" from one of its forms.
Jason teamed up with Channel 9's sister stations in six other states to investigate a real estate company that offered homeowners fast cash in exchange for exclusive rights to sell their homes for 40 years. Those news reports led at least 16 states to introduce bills to ban those kinds of contracts.
Jason also exposed a local used car dealership selling rebadged vehicles. That investigation resulted in a state investigation, refunds for many customers, the closing of the dealer’s two locations, and the owners being banned from the auto business in North Carolina.
Jason has a law degree from the University of Maryland and even drew his own courtroom sketches when cameras weren’t allowed. He started as a Sports Anchor in Dalton (GA) before switching over to news in Chattanooga (TN) and Raleigh/Fayetteville.
He currently lives in Matthews with his wife, daughter and son, the only people who laugh at his jokes. He’s a huge Charlotte FC and Carolina Panthers fan. He enjoys playing soccer, art, and reading.
