3 killed in fiery, head-on crash in Miami County Saturday night

UNION TWP., Miami County — Three people were killed in a fiery, head-on crash on state Route 49 in southern Miami County Saturday night, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported on state Route 49 near state Route 721, just north of the Miami-Montgomery county line around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

A Pitsburg man, identified as Dean Davis, 57, was driving an SUV that went left of center and crashed into another vehicle, investigators told News Center 7.

Two Lewis County, Kentucky men, Luther Ruckel, 75, and his son Robby, 49, were in the other vehicle.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash, deputies said. Other potential factors in the crash also remain under investigation, deputies said.
