DeWine is implementing a number of protocols to be followed when recruiting police officers and admitting them to the academy. - Local police reform: Area police departments enhanced body cam capabilities ahead of DeWine announcement
- Black Lives Matter mural: Cincinnati City Council voted to allow the painting of a Black Lives Matter mural in downtown Cincinnati on Plum Street between Eighth and Ninth streets, our news partner, WCPO-TV, reports. The work started Wednesday night after the council vote. The mural will be similar to ones painted on the streets of Washington, D.C., Austin, Texas and Brooklyn, New York.
- Arrest warrant: A man who punched a Black Lives Matter protester in the head during Sunday’s demonstration in downtown Bethel, a village in Clermont County in southern Ohio, is being sought by police on a misdemeanor assault charge. The incident was captured in a video that has gone viral, our news partner, WCPO, reports. Witnesses identified the suspect, Johnnie Devault, from watching the video.
