DAYTON — Shaquille Shackleford, 27, wanted in connection to a Dayton shooting as well as a shooting in Moraine, has been booked into jail on several preliminary felony charges after his surrender Wednesday night to a U.S. Marshals task force.

Shackleford, who was taken into custody from an address on East Fairview Avenue about 8 p.m., is being detained at the Montgomery County Jail on the following charges: weapons possession as a felon, felonious assault, discharge of a firearm on or near a prohibited premise, aggravated assault and probation violation.
Dayton police assisted in the operation and allowed Shackleford’s family members to speak with him in an attempt to coax him out of the address.
Shackleford was first accused in a May 8 shooting at the Red Roof Inn on Dryden Road in Moraine. Days later, police identified Shackleford as a suspect in a shooting on Darst Avenue in Dayton. He’s also wanted for assault involving the beating of a woman, according to Dayton police.

Police were engaged in a SWAT standoff May 12 at a house on South Euclid Avenue in Dayton where they believed Shackleford was staying. He was not found at the house.

The operation to apprehend Shackleford began taking shape at 7 p.m. when police set their vehicles to block streets in an area that included Fairview Avenue, Parkland Avenue and North Main Street. The suspect walked out of the address on East Fairview Avenue and surrendered just before 7:30 p.m.
