UPDATE: Moraine teen ID’d as victim of deadly shooting in Miami Twp.

MIAMI TWP. — UPDATE @ 2:30 p.m.:

Seth Beatty, 16, from Moraine was identified as the victim killed after a shooting in Miami Twp. Thursday night, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Beatty died from his injuries Friday at Kettering Medical Center after the shooting on Kajean Avenue, which was reported around 8:50 p.m. Thursday.

The cause and manner of Beatty’s death remains under investigation.

FIRST REPORT:

A homicide investigation is underway following a deadly shooting on Kajean Avenue Thursday night, Miami Twp. Police said.

Dispatch records show the victim was initially taken to Kettering Medical Center following the shooting.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office was not able to release the name of the shooting victim, but was expecting to release information later today, according to a spokesperson.

The incident was reported around 8:50 p.m. in the 2000 block of Kajean Avenue.

According to our crew, several markers of what appear to be evidence markers were placed on the sidewalk of the scene and several of what appear to be small plastic bags.

Police said they do have persons of interest in the case and are continuing their investigation. Dispatch records show that Miami Twp. Police alerted Kettering and Moraine officers to a possible suspect vehicle.
