Several police officers wrestled the male adult to the ground once he climbed out, Sgt. Matt Cvitkovich said.

Police were called to the park about 6:43 p.m. and spent approximately 45 minutes speaking with the man, the sergeant said.

A park visitor saw the man go into the water and called police. Cvitkovich said police cleared the park as they talked with the man, who left the water but didn’t want to go with police.

The man, believed to be suffering from a mental health issue, was taken to Greene Memorial Hospital where he remained for observation.
