BUTLER TWP. — A 19-year-old man was killed in Friday night’s shooting at the Red Roof Inn on Miller Lane in Butler Twp.
Jermaine Lewis, 19, of Dayton, was found lying in the parking lot of the hotel with multiple gunshot wounds according to witnesses at the scene.
Brandy Hunt was one of the multiple witnesses to the shooting that night.
"There was a woman there that kept telling him 'No don’t die here, don’t die here, " she said.
Another witness Scott Sensil said he first heard what sounded like a group of people arguing then heard gunshots and watched as a car sped off. He said that he along with several people tried to help Lewis who had collapsed in the parking lot.
“My fiancé was taking his pulse in his neck. I wasn’t feeling a pulse and then another person showed and was rolling him over and I saw the gunshot in his chest and in his stomach,” he said.
This is not the first time a shooting has happened in the area of Miller Lane. Across the street at The Day Inn, a sign is still down from when a woman crashed into it after an officer-involved shooting in July.
“It could have been one of us. We could’ve been just walking by at the wrong time. Especially my husband because he’s always out wondering around-making sure things are okay,” Hunt said.
Medics took Lewis to a local hospital where he later died shortly after arriving.
For Hunt, she wants those responsible for Lewis’s death to do the right thing.
“Turn yourself in because it’s going to be worse if you don’t,” she added.
Butler Township Police say they are looking for a red Chevrolet Impala.
