Preble County man accused of reckless homicide in I-70 wreck is jailed in probation case

EATON — UPDATE @ 7:35 p.m. (July 16):

Corey Withrow now is in jail on the probation violation case filed against him in Preble County.

A county sheriff’s deputy and Common Pleas Court probation staff served the Camden resident with the court papers about the alleged violation and took him to the county jail, where he remained Thursday night.

Whether Withrow will have to remain in jail until a July 21 court hearing on the probation matter is not clear.

EARLIER REPORT (July 14)

Corey Withrow, charged with reckless homicide and other felonies in the I-70 crash that left four children dead, now is accused of violating his probation in Preble County.

The 31-year-old Camden resident is officially accused of violating the terms and conditions of his community control sanctions because of the charges filed in the Wayne County, Indiana, crash on July 10 that left the father of the four children in critical condition.

Withrow, of Camden Sugar Valley Road, is to be in court July 21 to give an answer in the probation case. He is on probation for a 2019 drug conviction.

Sheila Willeford, adult probation/community control officer of the Preble County Common Pleas Court, filed the affidavit Monday. Willeford has asked the court to order Withrow to show why he should not be found in violation of his probation sanctions because "defendant has new pending felony cases in Wayne County."

Withrow faces four counts of reckless homicide, four counts of causing a death when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and a single count of causing a catastrophic injury when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

He’s out of jail after posting a $35,000 bond, records show.
