23-year-old pregnant woman dies after being struck by vehicle in Clark County, state patrol says

SOUTH CHARLESTON — A young pregnant woman was killed Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Dolly Varden Road in South Charleston, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported in the 6700 block of Dolly Varden Road, near South Charleston Clifton Road around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Madison Haggy, 23 of South Charleston was walking her dogs near her home when she was hit by a vehicle, state troopers said. A Good Samaritan called 911 and attempted to render first aid, however Haggy and her unborn child were pronounced dead at the scene, state troopers said in a media release.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Haggy did not stop immediately but returned to the scene shortly after the crash happened, investigators said.

Excessive speed and driver impairment are not suspected but driver distraction remains under investigation.

Haggy’s dogs were not injured in the crash and are currently are being cared for by her family members.
