NEW LEBANON — One person was shot by a New Lebanon police officer during a traffic stop early Thursday morning, according to Police Chief Rickey Daulton.
The incident started as a traffic stop on a vehicle with three people inside around 12:30 a.m. on Franklin Street, which is just off U.S. 35, Daulton said.

Around 12:37 a.m., police requested medics to respond for a person who was shot by officers.
The person shot by officers was transported to an area hospital, however their condition was not immediately known.
Additional details and circumstances surrounding the shooting were not released. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting the investigation, Daulton said.
A spokesman for Ohio BCI said the investigation could take several weeks or months and will involve investigating whether the officer acted accordingly.
The officer involved in the shooting was not identified but has been with New Lebanon’s Police Department for 15 years, Daulton said. The officer has been placed on paid administrative duty.
