“It was probably one of the worst nights of my life,” Brierly-Woods said.

After the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes, only 3 of her walls were left standing in her house.

“I was devastated, I was shaking” Brierly-Woods said. “I had to hold myself together.”

Brierly-Woods had her home rebuilt thanks to insurance, but just two houses away, tarps cover the roof of a home.

“There are still houses that have debris all over them,” Brierly-Woods said.

The damage to homes all around Brierly-Wood’s home is a constant remember of what she experienced that night.

“It breaks my heart because I know what they went through because I went through it too,” Brierly-Woods said. “And I was fortunate and it makes me feel really bad.”

Now, there’s only one day left for people to apply for assistance.

You can dial 2-1-1 to apply for financial assistance or emotional assistance.

“I would suggest they try to register to get some help because they have a plan, there are funds available but you have to apply for them,” Brierly-Wood’s said. “You don’t apply for them, people don’t know, closed mouth don’t get fed.”
