‘I just shot my daughter;' Father arrested after 15-year-old shot in Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 11 a.m. (April 20):

A man was arrested after he allegedly shot his 15-year-old daughter Sunday evening, according to a Dayton police report.

Steven Allen Brandy, 55, remains in the Montgomery County Jail Monday on a preliminary charge of felonious assault after the incident on Elsmere Avenue Sunday, jail records show.

The victim’s condition remains unknown Monday morning.

The incident began with a female, who identified herself as the 15-year-old daughter of Brandy, calling 911 to report a domestic incident. The teen reported her father had a knife and a razor at the time but initially she declined a medic, according to dispatch records.

A second phone call was received by dispatchers from a man who said he was the girl’s father, asking for medics to be dispatched immediately.

“I just shot my daughter,” the 911 caller said, who was later identified as Brandy.

Additional details were not available and the incident remains under investigation by Dayton police.

Police are investigating after one person was shot Sunday evening on Elsmere Avenue in Dayton, according to initial reports.

The incident was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of Elsmere Avenue.

The condition of the victim was not immediately known.
