ST MARYS, Ohio — The death of a 1-year-old girl in St. Marys last month is being investigated as a possible “reckless homicide,” according to a police report obtained by News Center 7.
St. Marys police and medics were called to a home in the 100 block of North Vine Street June 13 after two people called 911 to say the child was unresponsive.

“My wife just got back from a long car drive. We thought she was sleeping,” a man told 911 dispatchers.
A woman who also was talking on the phone said, “There was no heat in the car, but we had all the windows down, so we thought she was OK.”
Ceicila Harting, 1, was removed from the home in cardiac arrest and later died at a local hospital, according to St. Marys Police Chief Jacob Sutton.
No criminal charges have been filed, however the case has been submitted to the Auglaize County Prosecutor’s Office for review, Sutton said.
“The loss of life is always tragic, but when it involves a child, it’s even more impactful,” Sutton said.
The Lucas County Coroner’s Office performed the autopsy on Harting, however final results on how and why she died were not yet available.
