Arrest warrant issued for Dayton man suspected of stealing car with toddler inside

HARRISON TWP. — An arrest warrant has been issued for the man suspected of stealing a car with a toddler inside in Harrison Township on August 27.

Derion D. Miliner, 19, of Dayton faces charges of felony kidnapping, abduction, grand theft and endangering a child, according to Dayton Municipal Court documents.

Miliner is accused of stealing a 2012 purple Kia Optima from a Marathon gas station while two-year-old Haleigh inside the car last month, according to a Dayton Municipal Court Affidavit.

Haleigh was asleep in a car seat in the back of the car.

An Amazon deliver driver found her in the car seat along the road on Adair Avenue about a 10-minute drive from where the car was stolen.

“She was rubbing her eyes and was quiet. I guess she heard me coming,” said Amazon Driver Charles Rucker. "She looked up and saw me and reached her hand out and started crying. I got up to her and kneeled down and told her, “You’re going to be okay. I am not going to leave you.”'
