Man flown to hospital after motorcycle hits dog in Versailles

CareFlight called to motorcycle crash in Jamestown

UPDATE @ 4:28 a.m.:

A man was flown to the hospital after colliding with a dog while riding his motorcycle on Mangen Road in Versailles.

According to a release from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Darke County deputies along with Versailles Fire and Versailles Rescue responded to the 11700 block of Mangen Road for a report of a motorcycle accident with injuries. CareFlight was later dispatched to the location.

Preliminary investigation of the crash found that Nicholas Slonkosky, 20, of Bradford, was driving an orange 2006 Harley Davidson north on Mangen Road when a dog ran across the road. The motorcycle struck the dog, causing Slonkosky to lose control, travel off the left side of the road and come to rest in a ditch.

Slonkosky was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight, where he is listed in fair condition.

The dog was killed in the collision.

The accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
