UPDATE: Woman killed in Darke County crash ID’d; semi driver charged

UPDATE @ 8:55 a.m. (March 19): 

The driver of a semitrailer was arrested on preliminary charges of vehicular manslaughter and failure to stop at a stop sign after a deadly crash in Darke County Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim of the crash was identified as Karla K. Greer, 55, of Rossburg, Ohio, the Darke County Sheriff’s Office said in a media release Thursday.

Greer was the driver of a minivan that was hit by a semitrailer that ran a stop sign at the intersection of state Route 49 and Washington Road north of Arcanum, deputies said.

The driver of the semi, identified as Andrei Mihaescu, 28, of Van Buren Twp., Michigan, was treated for injuries at the scene before he was arrested, investigators said. Mihaescu was not listed as an inmate at the jail Thursday morning.

Additional details were not released.

UPDATE @ 5 p.m. (March 18):

One woman died at the scene of a crash around 12:45 p.m. at state Route 49 and Washington Road in Darke County.

Initial investigations suggest a white semi was traveling west on Washington Road when the driver failed to yield for oncoming traffic.

The semi pulled in front of a grey Dodge Journey that was traveling south on state Route 49.

The woman driving the Dodge was treated at the scene then died after succumbing to her injuries, the release stated.

The driver of the semi refused treatment and the incident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE @ 2 p.m.: 

The Darke County Coroner’s Office has responded to the crash involving a car and semitrailer on state Route 49 north of Ansonia, according to our news partners at The Early Bird.
