Central State University President Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond has been appointed to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund board of directors.
“Our board is proud to have Dr. Hammond join the TMCF family because we know she appreciates the work we do as an organization and will work to find ways to make TMCF an even better partner in advocacy, scholarships and capacity building for our 47 member-schools,” board director Jim Clifton said in a prepared statement released Thursday.
The fund, established in 1987, is the nation's largest organization exclusively representing the black college community, along with being a source for employers seeking talent.
TMCF member-schools include publicly-supported historically black colleges and universities, which enroll more than 80 percent, and predominantly black institutions.
Through scholarships, capacity building and research initiatives, innovative programs, and strategic partnerships, TMCF is a vital resource in the K-12 and higher education spaces.
