During the EF4 tornado that hit the Miami Valley, Lester Vaughn, survived the storm by racing into his home from his vehicle and finding shelter in his bathtub with only seconds to spare.
“My kids were calling me, I just dove in the bathtub and rode it out,” he said.

After what Vaughn says was the longest half minute of his life, he finally made it out.
“Everyone was screaming,” Vaughn said. “I was freaking out, it was crazy. Screaming like a war zone, I’m telling you.”
His wife was in a truck that got swept up 4 feet into the air by the tornado as she tried to get home during the storm.
The couple lives on Ontario Avenue in Harrison Twp., where churches collapsed and many homes lost roofs and walls.
Both Vaughn and his wife are safe and say they are happy to be alive.
