VIDEO: Thieves target two area cell phone stores in overnight break-ins

KETTERING — UPDATE @ 9:25 a.m.: 

Surveillance video obtained by this news outlet shows three thieves break the glass door of a Kettering Cricket cell phone store during an early-morning break-in.

The three appear to use an object to break the glass before grabbing at least one box and exiting the store around 4:35 a.m. The thieves also re-entered the store to grab more items.

Additional details about the incident were not available from store employees or police.

The Cricket location at 2707 Wilmington Pike in Kettering was the first of two cell phone stores targeted overnight. A Verizon store in the 6200 block of Wilmington Pike in Sugarcreek Twp. was also targeted by thieves around 5 a.m.

It was not known if the two incidents were related.

UPDATE @5:06 a.m.

A Verizon Wireless store in Sugarcreek Twp. was also the target of a break-in early Monday morning.

Police responded to the Verizon Wireless store in the 6200 block of Wilmington Pike around 5 a.m. after someone reported the front window was broken out.

It’s unknown if anything was stolen.

Kettering police responded to a break-in at a Cricket Wireless around 4:40 a.m. on a break-in. It’s unknown if the two incidents are connected.

Police are responding to a breaking and entering at a Cricket Wireless store at 2707 Wilmington Pike.

Two people were seen leaving in a Honda.

The incident was reported around 4:40 a.m.
