Police have a suspect in Kettering homicide; funeral arrangements set for victim

UPDATE @ 2:15 p.m.:

Investigators have confirmed that they now have a suspect in the Sept. 20 Kettering homicide case.

The case was presented to prosecutors Monday, but charges were not approved pending further investigation, said Greg Flannagan, Montgomery County prosecutor’s office spokesman.

The suspect was not named in the death of 28-year-old Mitchel “Max” Miller.

INITIAL REPORT:

The family of the man killed in a homicide on East Coach Drive last week made private funeral arrangements.

Mitchel “Max” Miller, 28, of Kettering, was shot and killed Sept. 19 after masked intruders forced their way into a condominium in the 5600 block of East Coach Drive just before 8 p.m., according to a Kettering police report.

He was taken by a private vehicle to a Centerville hospital where he later died around 10:15 p.m.

Miller was a graduate of Wayne High School, Sinclair Community College, and was attending Wright State University for a bachelor’s degree in business when he died.

He was working at Miami Valley Community Action Partnership in the legal clinic helping low-income people attain skills to help them become self-sufficient.

Kettering officers are investigating Miller’s death as an aggravated murder and aggravated robbery, according to a Kettering incident report.

This news organization has reached out to law enforcement to learn more about the investigation.

We are asking questions to find out if any arrests have been made, if the the case has been presented to prosecutors and if the robbery was directly related to the death of Miller.
