UPDATE: No arrest in stabbing at Springfield motel; investigation continues

UPDATE @ 6:20 p.m.: Police are continuing their investigation into Thursday night's stabbing at the Fairfax Inn in Springfield.

The 49-year-old male victim remains in Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, reportedly in critical condition, and detectives have not had the opportunity to interview him, Springfield police Lt. Matthew Buynak said.

There has been no arrest, the lieutenant said.

EARLIER REPORT

A man was seriously injured around 7 p.m. Thursday when he was found in one of the rooms at the Fairfax Inn suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The 49-year-old Springfield man was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center then transferred to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton suffering from life-threatening injuries, according to Springfield police records.

Previous reports indicated the victim was female, but a later police report clarified the victim was male.

The dispute that led to the stabbing began in the motel parking lot and moved to the parking lot of HD Transmission and Auto Repair, police said.

An incident report indicated the victim suffered multiple wounds to his chest, face and hands.

Police are still searching for the suspect.
