Darke County barn fire spreads to shed, home

UPDATE: @ 11:15 a.m.

No injuries were reported as a result of the barn fire Saturday morning in the 2300 block of Ritenour Road, said Capt. Jerry Holsapple of the New Madison Volunteer Fire Department.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a fully engulfed barn fire that spread to a shed on the property and then to a home.

Crews from Greenville Twp., the City of Greenville, Hollansburg, Arcanum, Pitsburg, New Paris and West Manchester were requested to the scene due to the heat, Holsapple said.

Fire crews are working to put out hot spots as they continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

INITIAL REPORT:

A barn fire was reported around 9:50 a.m. in the 2300 block of Ritenour Road in, according to Darke County dispatch.

Tankers were reportedly requested to the scene from three different cities.
