Troy Fire rescues man hanging on to tree in the Great Miami River

Troy fire crews were dispatched to Miami Shores Golf Course Sunday afternoon around 4 p.m. after reports of two people stuck in the Great Miami River.

The two victims were in the river without life vests when the current sucked them in. One person was able to swim to shore before crews arrived, but the second was clinging to a tree for around 45 minutes.

Troy fire department was able to put rescue boats into the water and rescue the man.

The victim was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center with unknown injuries.
