Vigil held for Newport Avenue shooting victim

Vigil held for Newport Avenue shooting victim Vigil held tonight for Tevin Million, the victim of a shooting on Newport Avenue in Dayton.

Family and friends of Tevin Million, the 27-year-old gunned down on Newport Ave. near Fairview Ave. earlier this week, held a vigil tonight at the site of his death. The family and friends held hands as they prayed for Million.

When remembering Million, his family said he loved his life. "Everybody loved him, he loved life," said Chanda Nettles, Million's mother; "He put family first," said Joanna Glover, Million's godmother.

After serving time behind bars, he hoped to one day open up his own barbershop. "I waited seven years for my son to come home for some people to take his life and take him away from me forever," said Nettles. "Tevin never really had a chance to enjoy life," she continued.

Some family and friends brought balloons and flowers for the memorial, but the news is still not setting in for some. "It's a shock. Because it's truly the expression here today gone tomorrow. And that's exactly what happened he was here yesterday and he was gone the next day," said Glover.

Dayton police have not made any arrests or named any suspects, but have told us more than one person could be involved with Million's death.
